The 800G OSFP to 2×400G OSFP Passive Direct Attach Copper (DAC) breakout cable is designed for high-performance 800G Ethernet switch-to-server connectivity in AI, ML, and hyperscale data center environments. Enables a single 800Gb/s OSFP finned-top port to break out into two independent 400Gb/s OSFP flat-top connections. The cable is compliant with OSFP MSA Rev 5.0, IEEE 802.3ck, and CMIS 4.0, ensuring interoperability with next-generation Ethernet platforms.
The 800G end features an 8-lane 100G-PAM4 electrical interface (8×100G), while each 400G leg supports 4×100G-PAM4 signaling. The finned-top OSFP connector is optimized for air-cooled Ethernet switches, while the flat-top OSFP connectors are designed for network adapters that use riding heat sinks on the cage assembly.
Each end includes EEPROM memory to provide identification and cable characteristics to the host system for seamless integration.
This passive breakout DAC is primarily used to connect 800G spine or TOR switches to dual 400G OSFP network interface cards (NICs), delivering a low-latency, low-power, and cost-efficient alternative to optical breakout solutions.
