The 800G OSFP to 2x 400G OSFP InfiniBand NDR DAC Breakout Cable, Passive, OSFP to 2x OSFP, 26AWG
The NVIDIA/Mellanox MCP7Y00-N0xx is an 800Gb/s twin-port OSFP to dual 400Gb/s twin-port OSFP Direct Attach Copper (DAC) breakout cable. The 8-lane twin-port OSFP connector on the main end features a finned-top form factor, specifically designed for deployment in Quantum-2 and Spectrum-4 switch cages. At the breakout end, the two OSFP connectors each deliver 400Gb/s throughput via four lanes of 100G-PAM4, using flat-top OSFP connectors compatible with ConnectX-7 adapters equipped with riding heat sinks on the connector cage.
The cable complies with the OSFP MSA (Multi-Source Agreement) and IEEE 802.3ck standards. As a passive DAC solution, this cable offers ultra-low latency and negligible power consumption, making it ideal for short-reach, high-speed interconnects in modern data centers. It is commonly used to connect servers and GPU nodes to top-of-rack (ToR) switches, and to establish spine-to-super-spine links within high-density compute racks.
DAC cables also serve a key role in InfiniBand storage architectures, connecting to both HDD-based systems and flash memory arrays.
Thanks to their minimalist design, DAC breakout cables offer a cost-effective and energy-efficient way to scale bandwidth, improve port density, and reduce infrastructure complexity in hyperscale and high-performance computing
environments.
