This 400Gbps Direct Attach Copper (DAC) cable from NVIDIA/Mellanox is designed for high-performance InfiniBand NDR systems. It features twin-port OSFP connectors on both ends and utilizes the Octal Small Form-Factor Pluggable (OSFP) interface with four high-speed copper pairs, each supporting data rates up to 100Gbps.
The cable complies with the OSFP Multi-Source Agreement (MSA) and IEEE 802.3cd standards, ensuring interoperability and reliability in demanding data center environments.

DAC cables provide ultra-low latency and are widely used to connect servers and GPU compute nodes to Top-of-Rack (ToR) switches, as well as for short-distance connections between spine and super-spine switches. They are also deployed in InfiniBand storage fabrics connecting HDD and flash memory systems.

With a flat-top (OSFP-RHS) form factor and passive twinax design, this cable offers a cost-effective, power-efficient, and low-latency solution for high-speed interconnects. Its minimal component count enhances system bandwidth, port density, and configurability while minimizing power consumption in supercomputing and hyperscale infrastructure.
